Progress on my Cultivators

Been building these for the past five weeks.
Still need to build the hydraulic cylinders and the rear section.
It's being modeled after the 461 my dad had for his Farmall 450. I still have my dad's cultivators. I had to modified them a little to fit my Farmall M.
I believe I have as much time in dreaming up and building jigs as I have in fabricating and assembling the pieces.

Good work. My Dad had one of those on a 400 Farmall back in late 50's early 60's. I had the opportunity to run it over many acres.

VERY nice job. Seeing those pictures brings dust to my eyes. Hard to romanticize about the good old days if you can still remember the radiator fan blowing that hot air along with the dust stirred up from the sweeps directly into my face 12-15 hours a day.

Looks good. I think you will need the brace rod up to the center of the steering on the front of the grill. If not it may want to sag when the cultivator is lifted and driven. Our H had it on with our 4 row cultivator. Went from the outer ends to the bracket on the grill . That was what those 2 holes were for near the top of the grill. The bracket had 2 pins with holes in them. The brace just slid on there with cultivator down then a pin in the hole to hold it on. The pins were about 1/2 or 5/8 with a nail/cotter pin or such in the hole to hold the braces on there.

Really nice. I bet you had fun making all the sweeps.
Are you still using steel or is that made mostly from brass.
I am making progress on my latest hybrid project.
What are you going to build next?? If you are like me, you have your next project half built in your mind already.

Thanks guys for the nice replies.
It is a fun and challenging project. Lots of solder burns and dropping very tiny parts onto the floor.
Most of the material is sheet metal from my scrap heap. The local hardware stores have only a few brass stuff in stock.
The main beam is 1/4" square brass tubing and the gangs' spine and shank hangers are made from 1/8" steel bar stock.
The wheels are from 3/4" copper tubing with steel washers for rims and 1/4" copper tubing for hubs.
The shanks are 12 ga. copper wire. Everything is soldered together.
Haven't thought much of my next project. I'm sure one will come up. Kinda thinking of a AC 66 All Crop.
Thanks for pointing out the missing front brace. I am aware of it. I'm building the hard stuff first.
