Million-dollar rig?

You could get the combine new for about 3/4 of that no heads from what I hear. The tractor for another 1/4. The corn head is the cheapest part of that set up. Or maybe the cart. Depends on the goodies on them. So I would guess more like a couple million for all of it.

Farm a few thousand acres and the farmers welfare, which is your tax money, will pick up the tab. A farmer close here has a red tractor like that and when he goes down the State road with tilling equipment it takes up 1 1/2 lanes. He has the grain cart on tracks also. I don't think it is quite as long as in the picture. He also has two combines that size though. A family operation. The grain tanks and dryer set up at the main house looks like a grain buying operation. I really don't think they buy the equipment. I would guess they do a lease agreement with the manufacture.

Farmers welfare. I would like to know where you work as many town jobs get tax agatment and many other government things to keep folks employed. if that?s your attitude why are you on an agriculture site,Ar least don?t discuss this with your mouth full!

What's agatment?

Tractor is $770,000, combine and head way over $600,000, grain cart another $150,000?

And don't forget the Peterbilt and grain trailer sitting on the endrows, another $100,000+.

You know, farmers don't write the tax bill. They just take advantage of it when they can and get hurt when it gets changed, or somebody like a farmer president decides to put a wheat embargo on to try to hurt someone else.

I assume you don't take all the tax deductions available to you in whatever your business is. If you resell, pay sales tax on your goods purchased for resale instead of making the poor taxpayer foot the bill.

However misguided the farm programs are, we are still eating cheaply in this country, even when you add the cost to each citizen. If we have a $90 billion annual farm bill, and 80% of it is food stamps and non farmer related expenditures, the $18 billion "aid" to farmers works out to $55.73 per person, or $0.15 per day. It's a killer. Small price for food security. If you add in food stamps, college support, etc, that jumps to $279 per person, $0.76 per day.

If you want to make a political statement about how you disapprove of the actions of Congress that needs to be on a political forum. And stop buying reduced priced food in excess of your $0.15 contribution.

#1 This is an antique tractor site #2 Everyone is entitled to their opinion this is the USA not the old USSR.#3 So called Farm Programs are a fraud on the US Taxpayer and probably
have done more damage to farmers in the USA in the long run than anything. As a farmer I would like for the Gov't just to get out of farming 100% and take the money they dole out with them.

Farm subsidy payments to farmers do not fall out of the air. Tax money given to farmers to keep them under government control. I personally do not believe in farm government control programs and refused to join. In the 1960's I tossed their forms in the trash. I received a registered letter telling me that if I didn't fill out the form by a certain date I would never be able to raise wheat. I wrote large corner ways across the form,( why the h would I want to raise wheat at these prices) President Kennedy let the farmers vote on the wheat restrictions and they were voted them down a year later.

The local office contacted me a few years ago and told me if I didn't sigh up in the farm program that with the law being written I would never be able to sell my farm to a farmer in the program. He said think of your kids having a farm they couldn't sell. I told him no problem I would just deed it to the Indians. He said you wouldn't do that. I told him apparently he didn't know me very well. That law never came up for a vote if it was true.

Call the subsidies what ever you want but I will continually call it farmer welfare because it is tax money distributed for following government rules. I didn't follow their rules and I never received a check.
Farmers Welfair

Not any one of those things would be comfortable in my front yard ! Yah, they would fit and be able to turn around, but that's all. ;^)

Million dollars is the general figure. Could be more, could be less. In this case it will be more. The grain cart is probably the cheapest followed by the corn head. If it's a folding corn head I don't know if $10,000 per row would buy it. All those tracks dollar up fast.

I see you want me to except you opinion on outcomes but call my opinions out of line. Simple fact is I have owned my farm since the early 1960. I built and owned my own factory and mold making business. If there is a demand for plastic gofer holes and I invest in molds and machines and sell gofer hole for years. The market for plastic gofer holes goes away and I keep making them the government does not come in and pay me to stay afloat. When the price goes down on wheat or corn I quit planting those crops. My statement was in no way political. I am the only one in my family that feels and operates this way. When my Grandsons subsidy check come in he buys new equipment. That is not political it is how this welfare check is used.

I have made it to the ripe age of 80 about to make 81 without government help. To insult me to make me look bad to others will not work because I made it this far without one care of what anyone including family thinks. I don't have a feeling of being insulted. I do point out when it is not working though. I still love everyone and wish them well. I would set down with you and chat all day long without bad feelings. You are entitled to your opinions as I am.

You are implying that he never eats!!!!!!!!!! You implying has to be very stupid that he is alive and does not eat.

Doesn't matter how much more than a million. It's not only too big for the acreage I work, it's the wrong color, and it's at least 4 zeros higher than my budget for replacement equipment.
