That is why I own two. My older one is used by my neighbor to make creep feed for his calves(20 head). It gets a little use and he stores it for me but would be available to use if I ever need it. Both are Deere 400's, old but still do the job. Tom

That was Saturday?s job. Hook up the Wards hammermill in the corner of the granary. Carried the cob corn from the adjacent crib. 3 shovels of corn, 1 oats. Winter time you ground a big 2 week pile because it wouldn?t heat. Summer not so much with the cattle on pasture. We fed ground feed in the parlor stalls at each milking so everyday there were 5-7 sacks to fill and bring to the barn. 2 rows of 3 on the loader and 1 on top, or all laying horizontal on the 3pt. rack Pa built. The earlier participant (older brothers) had a sled made from Model-T bumpers to transport this delicacy in the winter so a cold tractor wouldn?t have to be started. At an early age I could tie a fast and tight Miller?s Knot and wrestle a 70# burlap sack.
