Ford 8N lift

I recently replaced the Hydraulic pump, cylinder and piston on my "51 Ford 8N. The lift works inconsistently. Some times I have to raise it all the way up before I can get it to lower. Now in order to get it to work properly I have to push down on the lower lift lever while using the lift. I'm pretty sure it's some lever adjustment, but I don't know what or how to adjust it

Did you replace the cam follower pin while the lift cover was off?

Post question in the 9/2/8N board above for more responses.

I think you have it in draft mode (for pulling plows), instead of position mode. There should be a short lever (about 2 inches long) under the seat on your right side (as you are seated). Can either be flipped up or forward to switch between the two. I don't remember which way is draft vs positions, but if you search the 8N forum someone should have posted a picture in the archives.

The I-T FO-04 tell one how to go about that. A book worth having if you have an N series tractor. You could also have a sticking control valve which will cause that type of problems

I have to actually push the small lever under the seat down then the lift will work but I have to hold it down in order for the to lift to work right
