Was wanting to know who or where sells a good quality
rebuild kit for the d-361 engine . Have heard of stories of
some of the newer aftermarket sleeve being cheap from
cheap alloys. Also would like to know how hard this thing
really is to build and get right , is it a small percent to not have
working right even if you do it buy the book , and what all tools
besides press will I need to do engine.

It all depends on who the LOWEST BIDDER was this month on engine parts. Might be Perfect circle , might be TRW/ clevite heck they may come from wong fungfu China but one thing is for sure your going to pay for them I H part Numbers stamped in the top of the pistons . Then you look at casting numbers and that tells the story . Case I H does not make there own stuff anymore it is farmed out.

You will probably have a harder time removing the old ones than installing the new ones. Back in the years we did a lot of the 361s in international td15 dozers. I would say if you do a good job probably want have any trouble. I cannot remember any we had ever shooting craps. Need to get a good head shop to do your head and make sure all the sleeves are level. Lots of folks do not use anything but I always sprayed each side of the head gasket with a light coat of copper coat spray sealer. My dad always used aluminum paint.

An oem part will be built to the oem spec . An aftermarket part will be built just as cheap as possible to get the best price both parts could be built in the same factory but two different specs
