I had this on here before so will do abbreviated version. Uncle was dyed in wool Allis Chalmers man. Buried a wd45 on a disk, buried c trying to get it out!! His friend Alec came over with an old Johnny popper A Pulled the c and then wd45 out on good ground. NOW THE BICKERING BEGAN AND WHAT TO DO WITH THE DISK?? short version Alec set off uncles tracks and pulled the disk out, uncle went home and about vomited!! As he would not have a Johhny popper on the property!!! His opinion of them was worse than yours!!!

I don't have a problem with the products,I just have serious issues with the dealers now days.

"Alec set off uncles tracks"????

I had three bachelor uncles who farmed together. They were such John Deere Freaks they wouldn't even own a piece of short line equipment. If John Deere didn't make it, they didn't need it. Out of spite, my father refused to own a piece of John Deere equipment.

I was neutral. I wasn't all out John Deere, but I did own a few pieces of John Deere machinery including a couple of combines.

Me too, they make a great product but their prices can often be considerably higher than almost every other brand. They carry few parts in inventory and I find the mentality of our local dealership to be very arrogant.

If they are working right they are all good and if they are not working right none of them are any good. That being said, I seem to have less trouble with some having to be perfect to do the job. I always thought for most jobs The little fords and fergie's were pretty light, without adding a bunch of weight to get the work done like plowing and heavy work. Where as the Deere's and IH and others were better suited with their heavier basic weight for that work. We had a pretty good bunch of dealers for most all the brands till the late 70's then the Case and fergie dealer disappeared the Oliver/White dealer was to close to town to be able to expand so that hurt his options. Ford dealer was a good well supporting dealer with good sales and service and is still in business as a New Holland dealer today. Deere had changed locations about a half dozen times and ownership about as much. The little IH dealers are all gone now. Down to the one east of us. Used to have about 3 of them till the late 60's. Then when Tenneco took over the IH company, and name the one closed up and gone. The Allis Chalmers dealer closed during that time frame when all the companies wanted them to get bigger buildings and such.

rrlund , if I had to deal with any of the big 3 ?local? dealers exclusively I?d quit farming sell all the equipment and go to work at Macdonald?s . The Agco dealer is slow to get parts but the prices were the best until Agco merged them into a mega dealer . Case Ih stocks nothing there excuse Is well it?s to old well it?s to new well the real reason they just don?t want to stock parts whether it?s for a 4490 case tractor or a farmall 110a . John Deere can get a part pretty quick but there are two other dealers that come to this area daily that have the part in stock and 20% cheaper than trying to deal with the closest dealer
