Exhaust manifold

The the threads on muffler exhaust pipe is stripped/worn out...weld it or is there another alternative like hi temp JB weld thanks in advance.

What's it on? I welded a piece of strap iron to the saddle of a muffler clamp on my Oliver 1550,then clamped it to the muffler under the hood and drilled a hole through the hood and the strap iron and put a three eights bolt through it.

Buy a pipe thread tap the right size and rethread it.Most likely the threads are not stripped its smooth because of pieces of the old pipe are still in the manifold threads.I've redone them on several Cockshutt and Oliver tractors just did the 1600 this past Summer. Its a slow process sometimes you need a very fine chisel to help clean out the threads and then clean up with the
tap, heavy duty wire brush on a drill helps too.Pretty big tap think I paid about $50 for it about 20 years ago.

If you can find a Machine shop that's got a CNC mill they can recut the threads on the inside of manifold, but you're going to have to pay for set up, plus cutting, so it gets spendy!

If your talking about an h/m manifold just screw it in as much as you can and weld it. The manifold is shot anyway and you can get a good many years out of it after it's welded or brazed. I can't count how many of those I've welded over the years. But also check on new manifold costs as they are not bad for those.

well if its on that Minnie 706 then im thinking its about a 3 inch thread. so the best and proper way is to take it to a machine shop. I know recutting the 2 " threads on mccormicks is quite a job due to the hardness and carbon and metal still in the threads, plus this is a lot bigger! if you have not done this before, machine shop time . due it properly .
