Tractor World Show and Sale

Good day out at the Tractor World Show and Sale in Edinburgh yesterday. All the 'usual subjects' were represented, but here are a few pics of things that caught my eye.
The auction had mixed results. The Ferguson Brown made an eye-watering ?28,000 ($37,000), the immaculate DB Cropmaster ?6000 ($8000), the unusual Chamberlain ?3000 ($4000), the Massey Harris Ferguson 820D was unsold at ?2500 ($3300) (the auctioneer warned buyers that it was hard to start!), various MF 35s (running but scruffy, for restoration) made between ?1500 and ?2000 ($2000 to $2600). Huge auction crowd, no shortage of money for the right tractors!

Hi Jamstra, thanks for the pictures. Must get my Ferguson Brown number 226 out of storage and get restored. I bought it in 1967 for ?45=00 so I can afford to spend some money on it. I had a DB Cropmaster and restored it in 2001 then I had it stolen with my pick-up and trailer and it as never come to light at a show or a rally. MJ

What a trip that would be just to look, let alone take one or more home...
interesting that the 3pt controls on the MF 20-25, and MF 132
are on the left side of the tranny...made for us left handers..:)
tks for pics

Sorry to hear that about the Cropmaster. Scumbags! But what was the 'plan' (if any) if they have never shown it? Export? Jim

i can see it now, optical trick and surprise in general of seeing them " different",
better to leave my right side controls where they are..:)

Photo 6 the little 132 MF what does it use for an engine? I have never seen an engine look like that one.

I understand it was German made with a 34hp Eicher EDK2(Air cooled) engine. Speciality for vineyard work. That's all I know! Jim

I like the seat on the Crop Master. Looks like you could pull over and take a nap on it if you got tired. The little 820D has a similar look to the Massey Harris Pony.

Case fellows I noticed the DC had no battery and a different magneto than here in USA. Also very different wheels. Front looks to be a different front hub also. Has chrome strip there for might be a 1940 with sliding axles.

Hi Wilson, the DC would have come to the UK on the lease lend scheme during the second world war on iron wheels and without a starter and lights. The magneto is a UK built Wico unit commonly known in the UK as witrash units. After the war a lot of companies cast front and rear wheels for the tractors with iron wheels. MJ

Hi Randy, all David Brown tractors till the end of the Cropmaster production in 1954 had double seats and a scuttle to keep your legs warm. When the 25 and 30 series of tractors came out in 1954 they had single seats and shell type fenders to keep the cost down as the Fordson Diesel Major was less money than the Cropmasters.

If I ever quit collecting Olivers,I think I could get right in to collecting the DBs. They seem to have been a high quality tractor with some great features for their day.
