Anyone know Brand name of this Rake?

Wondering if anyone can help me with the brand name of this tractor rake? Sorry the picture isn’t better. Thanks

(quoted from post at 13:51:26 03/22/19) looks like New Idea. Need more views to be sure.
Thank you!
Funny name for something old! :)
This is the only picture I have of it right now. My cousin is going to do some weedeating too, so I’ll be able to get more soon. I appreciate your help!

Many companies made a "side delivery rake" like that. Ours was a John Deere with rubber tires. Used to be lot of them around with steel wheels. A neighbor had one, which I think was a New Idea, which had a reversing gear box on it, so it could be used as a tedder.

You forgot this picture...not many rakes had open gears.

The second picture of the open gears I posted accidentally! :p
The other one that I am selling, has lots of character I must say!

It's a JohnDeere. See the JD logo on the large casting? Right next to the part number? My brother in law has one just like it out in a fence row.

He mentioned in his other thread that the John Deere picture was of a different rake and had gotten put in there by mistake.

Top pick a New Idea No. 45 as it apears to be a low wheel on rubber rake. It does not have the casting on rear wheel to be a No. 47 and if would be steel wheel would be a No. 4 as the No 44 had that casting for the rear wheel. The john deere is a 594 with steel wheels and as a rubber tire rake a 594LW. I would hate to guess at how many I have had and rebuilt.

Yup After seeing this second picture I would go with a deere. The 3 deere rakes we have like that don't have the extra pieces on the top of the frame and have all wheels being steel. The drive plate with the gears are like ours are though.

Thank you for the information on the rake. Yes I accidentally put the pic of the John Deere on here. The other one is what I was wondering about. Looks like it has a mass amount of pieces to it!
And just for grins & giggles, I’m a She not a He! ;) lol
No worries tho. I’ve always been a TomBoy.

Sorry about that, Shelley! I don't always pay that close of attention to the name or handle of the poster. My bad!!

From the shape of the main fraim I can tell it is a low whel model and the tag is hidden down close to the gear box, you need to be a contorsionest to read it. But being a low wheel rake it has to be one of two models and as the back wheel has a pressed steel mount instead of the cast mount it is a No. 45G rake with the G standing for ground driven and made in the 1950's with end of production for all rakes of that style with either the large steel wheel or the wheel for a car tire ending in 58 with the 45 ending about 55-56. If I had my book handy I could tell you years they were made. You if you can find the tag it should say Lot No. and that would tell me year and what batch of rakes it was for that year. It will have a reverce gear in that gearbox for tedding. Some parts are easy to get like the teeth and others are no longer avaible. It should have about a 90 weight gear oil in that gear box up to full mark on dipstick. That JD would take the same gear oil and was built at the same time. The NI is a better rake than the Deere.

Wow Thanks for the information. If I can find the id# could I give it to you & bother you for the other information on it?

I could give you any information I have in my head but as for finding my books it may take a year or more as I am in final stages of moving and disposing of a lot of my machinery.

Ok. I hope your move goes well! I’m happy for all the information you’ve given me so far & will take whatever’s on the top of your head. :) thank you again!

Ok! I found out that the John Deere take is for sale too. I’ll post a couple extra pictures of it on here too. Plus have a couple more pics of the New Idea rake too. I’m so thankful to all of you for your help! I’d be lost without it!
