OT - 94 GMC intermittently won?t start

Engine turns over fine, but no attempt to fire. Usually I can try again later in the day, and it runs normally. Any ideas? Otherwise, this has been a very dependable rig. This issue has always occured at home with a cold engine. She has never failed me on the road. About 5 yr back, a rat chewed the wire going from fuel pump to ground. When I get off work today, I will crawl under there and recheck my splice job on that wire.
Any other ideas from the brain trust? 5.7 liter engine. Thanks

Scan it after you check the wire. Hate guessing at something that you can throw money at. Generally cheaper to pay for the scan.

Now if nothing comes up? Lot of the older systems? No code and a reoccurring problem? Most likely the computer is bad.

Being that in the morning it is usually colder and higher humidity my thoughts would be a spark issue.

Remove the HV wire from the coil and check to see how much green/white powder is built up on the coil terminal and inside the end of the boot.

Remove the dist cap and rotor, inspect for cracks, arcing, carbon build up, corrosion moisture etc.
