I am buying a 630 bobcat skid steer which originally had a vh4d 30 hp wisconsin engine. The owner says the motor was replaced. But he didn't think it was the same motor how can I tell the difference between the 4 cylinder wi engines if I can't find any identification tags. Also I am looking for the flywheel shroud that the starter bolts to because the starter mount is broke

The exhaust manifold looks like a VH4d. How many nipples on the distributor cap?
You might be missing a support bracket at the back of starter.

Its a 4 cylinder the guy says the motor is a 40 hp which would be the vg4d which is 37 hp but I want to be sure before I buy parts for it. I need a new flywheel shroud. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable between motors?

This might help .

Your distributor looks to have more nipples than a 4 cyl would have,
That is why I asked. You can run an odd fire with a V8 dist. if you 1/2 speed drive.

The distributor only has the 4 nipples and
the one to the coil. The picture does make
it look like more but it only has the 4.
Thank you for the help. Most models that I
see have the distributor coming out the
side of the motor. Is there a reason some
came out the top? Just curious

Some skid loaders you have to remove the engine to get at distributor if it hidden down low. I moved my dist. up top but then I had to come up with a different governor scheme.
