John Deere 720 gas or 730 lp gas

What would be the better choice a John Deere 720 gas or a 730 lp gas tractor both the same price about the same condition never had a lp tractor before so not sure what to think thanks for any advice

Take a look at tractordata.com to compair the two. The hp are only a few horse apart.
With no LP experience, I?d take the gas.

You need to be equipped to fill a LP tractor its not hard or dangerous if done right, you cant carry it in a bucket. Check with a good Lp supplier on how to do this. LP is a cleaner burning fuel, and in my area is cheaper than gas.

we have lp forklifts at my work I know who they work I just never had a lp tractor just wondering if the lp 730 is a rare tractor thanks

Bought a LP 730 STD, 1 of 220. RC are much more plentiful and lots cheaper. Bought a 125 gallon LP tank with wet leg, which you must have and it wasn't cheap, either. We heat with LP, so I have the tractor LP delivered along with the house LP at the same price per gallon, except we don't pay state or county sales tax on tractor fuel. The 730 is the easiest starting 2-cylinder I have and some of the gassers start real easy. Just my experience.

Had a MM 670 super LP. It had 2 valves for selection for running on vapor (light work) or for say plowing you ran on liquid to get more power. Good starting tractor. Had a John Blue pump added to house 1000 gal LP tank for filling. Just don't push your luck on making 1 last round when you know your are low on fuel. Takes a chain to get next to tank for refill. I liked the LP tractor.

Unlike the forklifts at work you can't take the tank off a 730 and send it to be refilled. It's permanently mounted to the tractor, so you either have to plan ahead so you can drive it somewhere to be refueled, or you have to have your own facilities to refuel it.

They make great collector tractors because LP is clean burning, so the engine stays nice inside. The fuel doesn't go bad so it can sit for months at a time between starts.

I run a 3020lp and love it. Low maintenance costs and always starts. However, I use mine for hay so I am not lugging it hard, it does not have a lot of torque (compared to diesel, don't know how it compares to gas) if that is something you will need for tillage work.

Not true.

NE Test 593: 720 LP, 55.48 max HP.

NE Test 605: 720 Gasoline, 55.11 max HP.

NE Test 594: 720 Diesel, 56.66 max HP.

We had a 730LP when I was young. Also a 60LP.
Both were good tractors.
We refilled most often from the 1,000 gal tank by the house.
But we also had a 150 gal tank on a trailer that we took to the field just in case.

Personally, I would get the 730LP. However, if you aren't already set up with an LP tank, you would probably be better off with the 720 gas.

I fuel my LP tractors from a wet leg on the tank I heat the house with. It's safe and easy. For the rare occasion that i run our of propane away from the house, I use an old style 20 pound BBQ bottle, and a 3/8ths RV hose to carry LP to the tractor. I have a "T" in the fuel line on the tractors, and simply connect the hose to the "T" and turn the BBQ bottle upside down. All the liquid goes into the tractor tank. You do need one of the old style BBQ tanks though, for this to work. It's not difficult.

Well I own a John Deere 720 gas tractor probably paid to much for it $2500 lol but it does need a little love thanks for all the input
