We had a brand new liquafire when I was little. Seems like it snowed more back then. I have no desire now to get cold for fun, doing the feeding is enough for me.

I always had Artic Cats. We used to ride most em of the night and fix em most the next day.---Tee

We spend 2 days getting them to run and then the snow melts off. I'll stick with my 4 wheeler, rangers and gators!

We used to try to ride all night and end up fixing/towing for a good part of the time. For some reason it was a lot more fun after dark. We had a mish-mash of sleds - Cats, Polaris, Alouttes, Ski-doos, and I had a first year Kawasaki. Good time!

back in the early days of snowmobiling (early 1960's) It was rare to go out sledding and not have to tow at least one guy home. Had several fellows with K-70 Polaris sleds. Reliable until they started installing the forward/reverse trannys. From then on it was a rare night we didn't have to tow them home. A fellow had one of the first Huskee 8hp sleds around. Fun things to ride.............................for about an hour. then you towed it home. The next year he got a 10hp model. Much more reliable. Always carried at least one extra drive belt and a couple of spark plugs. Usually had to use them, too. Replaced a set of wooden slides on a K-70 in the woods one night. Guy lost a slide. took him home, he went to the shop (he was a dealer) got a new pair, took him back and put the new set on and kept on riding. Remember the ones that used a bicycle generator running against the clutch for lights? They were good for about 30 feet ahead of the sled. Good thing we only went about 20 mph...................... Ride em on the weekend and work on em all week the get ready for the next weekend. Usually had 8-10 guys riding. One weekend word got around and we had 56 sleds showed up........................................Those were the days.(smile)

Was there any peppermint schnapps involved?? That was our refreshment of choice to ward off the cold!---Tee

The Cat dealer was closest so I rode Cats--Had a El Tigre-{SP.??}-Free air 400--went thru a lot of belts and plugs.---Tee

The sad part is nearly all of those people have moved on to the next life now. Only one or two of the younger ones still living. Fond memories.

When I got married I bought the wife a Cat-Jag. When son was old enough he rode it until there was nothing left of it. If there was a frost on the grass in the Fall he would be out riding the ditches.---Tee

You know what a snowmobile and a woman have in common?
You have to work on them for hours, for a 5 minute ride!

We rode 517 miles in three days in Northern Maine last weekend. On the morning of the last day one guy's primary clutch broke into three pieces. One piece went down through the belly pan, one piece went out through the side of the hood, and the third piece stayed on. The funny thing is that two years ago the same guy had a different sled seize up within 100 feet of the same place.

JD makes that model specifically for old Hell's Angel guys who don't have the balance anymore to ride their bikes. Funny that tractors started going away from the high perch seats after the Ford 9N showed up. The Angels like to been seen with their "ride."

I have a couple pictures of 2 Massey Ferguson Snowmobiles somewhere. The man had them I bought my Massey Ferguson 135 from. Up around Knoxville Tennessee. I dont know what year they were

517 mi.--That is a lot of riding! Years ago in my single years we would ride from one bar to another and had a very good time--I think--Memories---Tee

Tee, wife and I done that in Michigan, bar to bar and back to hotel room many years in a row always rode new sleds never had any trouble, had a lot of fun

Penningroths Farm Supply in Whitney Point NY was the IHC dealer and sold Ski Doo, we bought sleds there and had Cats and Skiroule.

That looks like a 1966 10.5 HP Olympique. It had the handle on the dash to raise and lower the headlight.
