My oldest brother, now 73, told me he can?t remember ever sleeping through the night without getting up to pee. Dr. Told him last week that he now has prostate cancer,🙁. I have been lucky so far, and never feel the need to get up during the night

Bruce I've been that way since I was a child. I'm 44 and problems so far. Dad had prostate cancer, so it's something my younger brother and I have to watch out for.

Ever since my prostate radiation treatment The cancer is in remission, but I need to p about every hour. I only get up one time at night though. I know all the stores with rest rooms. I'm getting good at opening the passenger door, and pretending to drink, and relieving my self, just about anywhere. Stan

Bill, you must be on Lasix, that will get rid of the water, but i take Saw Palmetto, it shrinks the prostate, and you can buy that across the counter, or at Swanson Health food .com, it's just made out of Berry's. Ask the Doctor if it's ok.

This thing about getting up a few times at night seems to be a regular occurrence as of late. No prostate issues either.
I'm still trying to figure out the cause. Cut off drinking anything early enough, and it seems that it's not related to relieving ones self, just seem to wake up, sometimes every 2 hours. I find once in a deep sleep or will be able to, it's time to get up for work. I had to be in Rhode Island last week, 3:30 AM rise to be on the road at 5AM, just got into a deep sleep, the alarm goes off. Nice to get good rest, never seems to happen very often, hard to figure how one makes it through a day.

I am on a drug called. HCTZ real name to long to print. Take 25mg a day. Supposed to get rid of water. Boy does it ever. I will ask the doc. He is a very good man always looking for ways. To keep you healthy. He will sit with you and talk. Doesn't rush you. Like most do.

I did the seeds with my prostate cancer. All gone now for 2 years. But i can relate to the peeing anywhere at any time . Kinda funny sometimes hell i dont let it bother me none. I do take a generic flow max pill supposed to be daily but i might take one a week sometimes.
The funny part is i can be at a gas station filling my truck and hear that fuel going in and all of a sudden its like HOLY COW i got to PEE and now. LOL. I just figure its part of gettin old and deal with it

I will be 67 soon and never have to go at night. Doc is a little older than me and he said he never has to go at night.
He said we are very lucky.

I am of the opinion that getting up every night is mostly a bad habit. I made some changes and now I get up about twice in a month. The most significant change was to not go as soon as I get up in the morning. I try to wait at least 10 minutes.

Don't use saw palmento if you have the condition called diverticulosis. It will set your gut to aching within a week.

I had the TERP procedure several years ago and cannot see that it helped much. Still get up at night.

Only thing I know happened with the TERP was it worked as a Vasectomy.

Ditchwitch that happens to me when I’m gassing an old tractor at the overhead gas barrel. The sound of the flowing gas sets it off real quick. So when gassing up I have sometimes been known to, um, hold a nozzle in each hand. LOL
