49 John Deere A manifold question

The 49 A I am restoring has a powerblock and the manifold will have to be replaced due to a hole burned in it. I have read about the cold weather manifolds would they give me even more hp amd what are the differences in them and a normal manifold. Thanks for any info

A "cold weather" manifold is not a "cold" manifold. Just the opposite. What you want is a
"cold" (no heat passage) manifold, for more power. Cold manifolds were used on gas
tractors. The standard manifold, with a heat passage, were used on all-fuel tractors.

This tractor isn’t all fuel so should I assume that it already has the “cold” manifold now? I was just wanting
Tonget as much hp out if it as possible if I ever wanted to pull with it on occasion

Like Loren said. You just want a straight gas manifold
I grew up on a 49 gas JD A. Super stout tractor.
Unbelievable what that thing would pull.

What you want is either the "cold gas" A 3386 R or the A 4039 A which is a modified cold gas that actually heats the intake slightly . It is called a "northern climate" manifold. They both are available as original, on e-bay or you may get on the JD 2cyl of facebook site and someone will have one for a good deal. The originals are time tested as apposed to the china aftermarket ones. And are cheaper too.
