I remember seeing these in a brochure years ago
and thought it might work good for chopping brush

Looks pretty useless to me. It will cut straw just by pulling it. As for brush I think you would need notched blades so it doesn't just spin against them and plug up.
 

Pretty sure the purpose of those is to keep the blades spinning against the scraper to keep the disc from packing with mud. That's a kind of rice paddy tool I think.

You wanna chop up brush, you need notched discs, another gang behind (an offset disc) and all the weight you can pull.
 
Anybody else remember the PTO driven subsoilers? I never saw one work,but I remember seeing a few at the sale in Archbold.
 
I have an experimental Farm Hand Power disc,they actually produced them for a year or two,,I can see why they didn't work out,,I restored it and took it to the Half Century of Progress show a couple years ago

rrlund I have heard about them never seen one . Guys that tried them said it would loosen the soil so much you couldn?t drive a 4wd pickup across the field
