Wire cable with threaded ends

Need to get a replacement cable for my headgate. It measures 5/16" thick cable, 1/2 threaded ends, and 91 inches total length. Any idea where I can get one?

you need to find out in your area who deals in wire rope. things like that are made to spec.

Can you weld an eye to the end of a threaded rod and then attach the cable with a thimble and wire rope clip?

There's a place here in Nashville, Contractors & Industrial Supply Co., that makes custom pieces like your asking about. They swaged some threaded ends on some wire rope for me many years ago.

It holds cattle still for shots and such. The front part of a squeeze chute.

One of my college jobs was in a machine shop....did this often- cut the bolt head off, drill down the center of the bolt, insert wire cable, and braze in place.
