This was last Thursday in area of Chambersburg, PA

Only tractor I had some interest in was the Ferguson TO30. Sold for $700--about $300 too high for me. Non-running, no history but engine was free. Those attending the sale told me it had been taking up space there for several months. (my pics may not match up exactly with my descriptions---looks like I felt the TO30 was not worthy of a photo for some reason)

JD 2840 Running

Like Blaine Rentzel told the crowd up there one day while auctioning the tractors,"If it wasn't something wrong with it,it wouldn't be here" That was back when they had the Ride and Drive Row
and the As Is row when Ralph Horst owned the auction.

Both my Dad and I bought alot of equipment at that sale years ago. I still have a permanent buyers number. I talked to the owner last fall at a sale in Iowa. The first items I ever bought at an auction were there. At about 12 years old I started buying weights and hyd cyclinders and other small stuff in the circle by the loading dock. Tom

Gotta give those auctioneers credit--they squeezed every dollar they could out of those machines. Thought the bidding was dead a few times but they were able to get it going again. Looks like they really knew their crowd.

BTW was the older lady there selling apples out of a Ford truck with a camper? She told us she was there selling apples at the first sale there in 1947.I didn't start going there until
the 1970's
