So...is it a 201, or a J?

Maybe this post would be more suited to "Implement Alley", but there seems to be much more traffic on this page.

It has what appears to be original red paint, which I believe makes it pre-1964. Also it has the "clamshell" bearings.

dont know on the model. but those are not bearings... they are called boxings. they need grease every couple hrs of work. the john deere KBA I think it was always had to grease them as had the same set up. its just steel to steel. basically one pipe running in another pipe. no ball bearings.I am saying its 1950's stuff.

Series J flex hitch disc. My dad bought one new with an 860 in 1955. Worked well, easy to set angles, BUT keep it greased.

Go to Google and search for "Ford Series-J and 201 Disc Harrow.pdf".
Download and read the pdf - should help you decide which you have.

I have one but it is a little smaller. 2 grease zerks in each of the 8 bearings. I can use almost a full tube of grease every time I grease it.
