What size tractor chains do I need?

For 13.6 x 28 tractor chains. What would be the correct width and length of the chains when laying flat on the ground? I'm not sure how that is calculated. Appreciate your help with this question.

Gee Grizz, you really nailed that one, didn't you?

Dave,

Seems that chain manufacturers usually go by number of cross chains and number of links in the cross chain versus just measuring. That said, according to the Le Clede 2019 catalog, you need a set with 15 cross chains with 16 links in them if you're looking for road chains. There's also double ring chains and H chains.

Here's the link to Le Clede's catalog. Go to page 30 and 31 to find styles of chains, write down what stock number fits your tire, then go to page 47 and 48 to see what the specs are on that stock number ( the page number in the catalog doesn't match up with the page number on the file. I used actual page numbers, not file page numbers.)

well I still don't understand the question if he has 13,6 x28 tires just go on line under tractor chains and buy what ever style you want if you want double diamonds down to single truck chains

Go to tirechains.com.

You can find just about anything you want to know about chains. Yes, you may need to dig a bit.

Apparently, these work like adjustable ball caps. One size fits most?

Ordered these in about a month ago after we got a heavy, wet 20 inch snow event. This is as close to snow as they have been since. Dealer I ordered them from told me they hadn't sold a set of chains in over 5 years and following that snow event, they sold 3 sets in one day. In those conditions, 2wd tractor like mine helpless without them.

BTW, I watched two different sets sell at farm auctions back in the summer. Something like $50 per set. Didn't know I needed them back then. With shipping, these new were over 10X that.
