We are moving

I like to look up science, and tectonics has always fascinated me.

It looks like we (North America) is moving to the WSW at about 1" per year.

This must be why my GPS gets me to the wrong address (lol)

Yes, it's been going on for a while. I have been told that if you want to see Europe you'd better go soon before the airfares are driven up by the longer trip.

If you wanna see Niagra Falls you better hurry in another 10,000 years its all gone. Some nnalert say we only have 10 years anyway due to Global Warming so why worry about the long term

I for sure know less about it that you David, but the earth changing at the Axis may have a lot to do with global warming,,not sure how they will blame that On Donald...but they will..

Well if northwest Iowa could get to where Arizona is now, when I retire in the next ten or twelve years I won't need to move south.

By your subject... I thought you were going to move away from the frozen wastelands of the north. :)

Tim, it depends on which way it's moving. If moving right, then it is Donald's fault. I think I heard it is moving right.

It took nine days to get me there in 1964. Surface transportation. When I came home in Dec 1966 it took 8 hrs. Commercial air.

I'm convinced that something has moved on the earth's positioning. Sun is several degrees farther to the South, easily noticeable in the changing seasons where sunrise and sun set positions are non longer where they used to be. One road heading due East used to have the sun right over the road when coming up.....no more, far enough South to not be an eye hindrance.

The plates have always been in motion, which is a different issue than the magnetic poles moving.

For example, the Aleutians and Hawaii are chains of islands because the pacific plate is, and has always, been in motion. The magma tubes that blow the material to the surface to form the islands have not moved, the plate above the magma tubes has moved. The duration of the tectonic movment process is measured in billions of years and it is not a new thing. Much like climate change process duration is measured in billions of years, not decades.

What is not understood but may eventually be a concern is the movement of the magnetic poles. That may indicate that the iron core has changed it's rotational velocity. Note that the iron core rotation has nothing to do with the static location of the magma tubes - they are from different layers.
