ESAB Rebel EMP 235ic

Never used one, but looking at the company profile, they have been around a long time, one of the first welder companies, maybe even the very first!

Started out in Sweden, now in USA. That's a plus!

I suspect it is a solid welder. I see it will run on 120v or 220v. Don't expect it to run high amps on stick weld on 120v, none will.

With any welder, one major concern is availability of consumables. Check your local welding suppliers, see if they STOCK typical parts. You don't want to be dead in the water for a week waiting for a MIG tip! Ask questions, how long have they been a distributor? What's the track record? What's their future with the company look like? Complaints? Compliments?

That is an "all in one" machine. The advantage is, it is an all in one machine... The disadvantage, a lot of electronics. Where will it be in 10 years? If the electronics fail, will it be repairable?

Some things you just have to step out in faith. Or back track to the old reliable. Tough decisions...

(quoted from post at 03:47:16 02/15/19) Is anyone familiar with ESAB Rebel EMP 235ic? Are these good welders? What's service like?

I can't offer any advice about that particular model, but I can say that esab makes a top quality product.

$2500-$3000 110-220v
dc wire tig stick
I'd take one
but so would some thief in a hurry some suitcase sized jackpot

I think I watched the welder guy on youtube running one well up into argon mig (making a point??) and spray arc ( I doubt he had it on 110v though)

I didn't see ac so aluminum might be out with it
