I recently purchased a 580K backhoe. It is a phase 1 machine. How do I access the heater core - through the roof or the ceiling? I'm not getting any heat in the cab at all. The valve down by the water pump is open. (this machine only has one valve).

No there two valves.
Main shut off on engine and a cable controlled valve right before the heater core controlled by the knob on the right post.

You start by removing the ceiling.
Everything is done from inside.

Hi Tom, thanks for your reply. It will be very helpful when I get the time to work on it. I also have a 580E that is disabled. It will back up but will not move forward. I had extremely bad engine vibrations going on and discovered the engine mounts were bad. I replaced all three of them and now it runs smooth but the first time out after the mount replacement it quit moving forward but i still have reverse. I'm thinking it shook the hell out of the electric unit that hangs on the left side of the power shuttle and i will replace that unit when i get it in my shop. Your thoughts on this? Thanks, my name is Tom also...

The solenoid on the left is the clutch cut out.
I doubt that's your problem because you wouldn't have reverse.

Check that the linkage rod is moving far enough in both directions.
Sometimes it could have been adjusted to make up for worn mounts, and now that everything is back where it should be
It's out of adjustment.
If that don't correct it then you need to start checking pressures.

And Welcome.

Tom
