On farm fuel tanks have ran dry

So, rather than get them refilled this late in the
season with winter diesel, I just ran up the road to
town. Just a tad over a mile to the filling station, and
filled the yard tractor with Over The Road Diesel.
About.20 a litre more money than dyed diesel, but it
won?t take a awful lot to get through to spring.
Check out the prices, full serve, you can just pull up
, roll down your window, and a pump jockey fills
your tank. Like stepping back in time, I don?t know
another filling station that will pump your fuel around
here.

Last time the fuel man was here with heating oil I told him to fill the gasoline and put in 200 gallons of diesel when he got a chance. I was surprised that he had it on the truck right then. Problem solved.

Yes, that's rare to find full service for no extra cost, some stations in MN will pump it for you for and extra cost, it's for little old ladies and guys in suits! We try to avoid buying much gas when we are traveling in CA, but sometimes we have to. Oregon and New Jersey require full service in heavily populate areas, and the city of Huntington, New York. That's a lot extra for highway fuel, but it's the most fair way to pay for roads.

Our self serve down the road is 107.9 for diesel and 88.9 for gas. Thats in in Carleton Place Ontario just 20 minutes west of Ottawa

Haven't seen a full service around here in yearts. I think some truck stops along the 401 still have full service on the truck pump side. Not sure if the price difference is for the full service ?

When I was in Fairbanks Alaska last year they had full service there,,I was not use to that..

Wer have a close by "mom&pop" gas station/convince store. The owner or a hire is always out at the pumps taking care of customers.
He is a bit younger than me, but when I pull in he calls me "Tweedle Dee" not sure where that came from and I call him "Twinkle Toes", as he is dancing around the islands and in the store all day. This has been going on for at least 30 years.

Does any station near you sell furnace oil? Some around here sell it and it?s the same price as dyed diesel. You can?t put it in your highway vehicles or at least not at the station but if you have a tax exemption number they?d likejy let you put it in your tractor tank.

I dont think they will do that in over regulated Ontario. If the tractor tank ....or any tank for that matter...says diesel fuel only, that is the only fuel they will fill it with.

A few years ago I drove the tractor 7 miles to a truck stop to get #1 reefer fuel. I don’t know if they still have it available or not. Usually I try to have the two winter tractors 1/2 full of #2 by Dec 1 or thereabouts. Then I call the tank man and ask him next time he is in the neighborhood to top them off with #1. Sometimes that fill up will last the winter if we have very little snow.

Can your file for the tax money to get it back? I always buy on road diesel and gas, the file for the state tax back quarterly and the Federal goes in with filing income taxes. It usually
ends up being cheaper than buying off road.
