Best Tractor Cover

I have a 1981 Ford 3600 (with horizontal exhaust) and would like suggestions on which type of tractor cover (for outdoor storage) to purchase. I'd like a nice fit, rather than an oversized small car cover.

Thanks!

A cover is not a real good choice no matter how well it fits.

They tend to slowly degrade, then rain is getting in and you don't notice until it's too late.

They are also excellent rodent breeders!

A carport or lean-to is much better. Sometimes the portable carports come up on Craigs List, they are easy to take down and set up.

What is your budget? If it's too low to pay for a roof, IMHO an inexpensive car cover that blocks most sunlight, sheds rain and snow, can breath and won't trap moisture under it would be far better than any tarp or plastic cover.

You might look into camper/RV covers. They are water proof but will let moisture out. UV light will kill them in a few years so it should only be used for the winter. What I do is put on the camper cover and then cover the very top with a really good tarp. The cover allows the camper to breathe an it protects the surface from the tarp. The tarp helps them last longer. That being said, the comment I haven't seen yet is how often do you need to use the tractor. A cover and a tarp work great if you don't need to use it much. My late father in-law used to wrap his tractor up like a mummy it was a real PITA if you wanted to use the bucket to unload something. My choice would be some type of lean-to or one of those metal carports.

Any cover other than a roof, will cause ware marks on the paint, were the cover rubs in the wind when it moves. I had people want me to tarp a tractor, to haul it a few times in the past, to keep the bugs off while in transit. After I told them the paint would not be on it, from the tarp rubbing it off or marking it up, from the black tarp they decided to not do that method.

I use a plain old cheap car cover on two of mine but not outdoors. Strictly for inside. Outside they are protected by the coat of wax that they get every other year.

My wife bought me one from this sight years ago and it did a good job. I now have a tractor shed but if one needs to stay outside for any reason it gets the cover.

I have a carport where I keep my tractor. Just wanted to keep it clean from dust and afternoon sun exposure. Thank you everyone.
