This is an odd looking
thing........ What's it used for?

It's a version of a "reversible plow", IMHO.

Out here we call it a switch plow. Works the same as a normal rollover plow. Just a different design.

Switch,or swing plow. It's a type of two way.If fact,that's the only two way John Deere even offers these days.

I've seen pics of them switch plows. Seems like they would leave an awful lot of trash on top. Anyone try one?

This part of the county you just absolutely could not put enough horsepower in front of them. Awful hard to pull in this hard clay type soil. I know of one still laying in the fencerow around here.

Two way plow . I plowed 1200 acres with one to prepare ground for planting potatoes I pulled a 7 bottom with a 250 horsepower mfwd tractor and it was all it could pull they do a pretty good job but you need to pull them 5 mph to work right

Another video they work really well in light ground in clay they take about 35 horsepower per bottom the square I?ve thought about getting one because the trip mechanism Is so expensive on these red plows to fix when they break and fiat doesn?t stock parts

I saw one of those at a JD dealer back in the late 70s. I went back inside to ask what it was. Never saw another one, though.
