IH 584 Hydraulic issue

Hi All,

I have a IH 584 with a couple of hydraulic problems possibly related.

- Brakes need to bleed them every couple of days for them to work.
- the front forks have lost power and will not lift anything over 500kg's any longer, they get to about a meter off the ground and stop lifting, empty the lift fine.
- If I leave the forks up over night in the morning they are resting on the ground again.

Where do I start is it going to be the pump is worn out and needs replacing or is there other things I can look at first.

thanks
Grant

Forks - loader has maybe blown a seal on the piston on one side. When you lift its only pushing on the shaft area. Other option is very bad valve leakage. Its pretty normal for a hydraulic circuit to bleed
down overnight though.

Brakes - The 84 and 85 series, ours had same problem. Constantly need to bleed brakes. Not related to the loader issue.

When was the filter last changed? While there wash out the screen going into the filter good. Check fluid level. For the loader sag down you will need to close the lines off to the cylinders then see if they sag. If they do it is in the cylinder if not then it is probably in the valve. For the pump put a coupler in the rear remote with a gage if you get pressure it is a better sign. You will need at least a 2500 PSI gage for that tractor. If not then a good chance pump is shot. When lift stops is there still oil in transmission case yet or is it gone like all in the system? This could also be a blown gasket in the MCV,o-ring on the pump, or filter air leak at the filter canister o-ring, blown o-ring in the MCV. If steering is working probably pump is working. Does not mean it is completely good though. To determine if the pump is fully ok you will need a flow meter.

On your brakes, the problem most likely is the brake piston o rings. The axles need to be removed, but it is not a hard job once you're in there, but it is a bunch of labor.Fuel tank has to be drained and removed, along with the fenders and seat platform. Mark.
