Glad I checked

We are getting ice tonight.

My generator will attempt to start weekly, last week was the -30. I went out and checked this afternoon before ice set in, the red light was with an indication that it failed to start. I manually started it this afternoon, it had to crank quite a while, which I assume was longer than the autostart time. I cleared the fault and am letting it run for a good half hour this afternoon.

Started raining about four, then freezing rain and now sleet. Tried starting my generator, pulled the rope about 8 times before I figured out I didn't flip the switch, took right off then. Hope I don't need it.

I am living on the edge, the generator is in the garage and the gas can is empty. The longest we have been without power was 4 hours in the last 20 years

We haven't had any real bad weather so far but still cold and need heat. Couple weeks ago received a phone call from our electric company saying they were going to be working on updating some equipment and we may or may not be without power for about 4 hours the following day.

I ran around like a mad man, filled the generator with gas, found my generator cable and had everything ready to hook it up just in case. Ended up we didn't loose power but now I'm ready to go should the need arise. Of course this means we won't need it.

Ellis I think someone may be stretching you. I have a Generac 20 KW that is on propane. Line fro the tank to the generator has one regulator at the tank which reduces the line pressure and then another regulator at the generator. The distance for the tank to the unit is 64 feet. It exercises every Friday at 2 PM. Unit is now 7 years old with around 350 hours and I can tell you when it call for it to run no more than three seconds or one turn of the motor and it is running. On areal outage , I will hear the transfer switch and hear the motor running almost at the same time. Usually have power with seconds of the outage. In the 7 years all I have done is change the oil and the spark plug once.

Went without power for 10 days this past fall due to Hurricane Michael. First time for that in my 49 years. Makes you want to be a little better prepared!
