Jack hammer maintenance question

I picked up a used Bosch 50 lb breaker today. What do I need to know about proper maintenance. Do you just smear some grease on the bits once in awhile or what?s the do?s and dont?s ?

Very light lube next to nothing on the bits. Too much will clog up the bit holder with dirt no matter how hard you try and keep it out. Common problem, former employer was a Bosch authorized service center.

Thank you,i first looked at it a month ago and it just wasn?t hitting. I said I?d buy it no problem if he got it to work properly. He told me today the bit holder was gummed up with old grease and debris. I expect the bit wasn?t able to insert enough for the hammer to give it a good hit. It works perfect now.

Do not try to pry with the bit to break concrete after the bit has made a hole. That will break the bit, trust me. Just keep making holes to break up concrete. When the bits get blunt resharpen them. There are other bits you can get, like a clay spade or sheet driver. The sheet driver is used to drive steel sheeting. Like along a shore line to stop erosion or make a break wall. Also make sure to use a very heavy duty extension cord and as short as possible. Low voltage will burn up the motor.

"Pun" intended so get your grinner out: Question: Does every hammer operator have a beer belly that hangs over the handlebars and gets his belly jiggled all day? Never saw one that didn't fit that description the few times I have seen them in operation. Can't imagine running that thing 40 hrs a week.
