AGM charger

This is from my owner's manual. AGM charger limits voltage to 14.8v.

I put an AGM in the wife's Honda CRV about 3 years ago.

It had a history of short battery life, the original only lasted 2 years, so did the 1st replacement.

I blame it on the Texas heat.

I then went with an AGM, so far so good...

The AGM said it was designed to withstand "extreme temperatures", whatever that means.

I'm thinking about doing the same with my '13 Silverado. I replaced the battery in it 2 years ago with another lead acid, it's about time for another. Problem is I have to plan ahead, there are no local AGM dealers I can find, have to order online.

My car has to be reprogrammed when my AGM battery is replaced. This battery is designed for cars that stop engine at stop light and restarts when you take foot off brake.
Battery is huge.

Not looking forward to replacing it. $$$$

Like I said before. Only keep a Cadillac through the warranty period. They used to have a fairly long bumper to bumper warranty period. Longer than regular GM products. Don't know if they still do ?

Looking forward to upgrading.
Won't trade this car in. My boy would love to have the car.

Just got my new $60.oo super duper charger yesterday. This thing charges everything including the kitchen sink. Ran the battery repair function on a AGM battery last night. It is trying to recover so I will let it run longer. What i have read the biggest problem with AGM batteries is not being charged correctly and sever overcharge. Let me play with this thing for a few days and i will get back to you.

Go to the right place and they will plug a power supply into the DTC connector so it can't lose the memory.

It's not a memory thing. Cars computer has to be reprogrammed for a new battery. Not sure what happens, but cars computer changes charge rate as battery ages. Car has to be told it has a new battery.

I put an AGM in my motorcycle a few years ago, it has worked fine, and I charge it with a HF maintainer.
