John Deere Snowblowing

Couple of pictures I took over 30 years ago of a friend clearing up the snow around the grain elevators in town. He had the JD snow blower mounted on the 148 front end loader of his 3020. It would really throw the snow running the 540 rpm blower off the front JD pto shaft. Which as old JD guys will know was 1000 rpm shaft. He kept the tractor throttled down so as to not over speed the blower too much.

I am working on an engine in my shop right now that was removed from one of those Pool elevators quite
some years ago. 17HP Ruston Hornsby.

Those elevator engines bring big money at auctions. I watched one bid up pretty high here back about 03 and I don't think the seller let it go. In this picture they were using a Farmall belt pulley to crank over the Ruston. Wish I had some video.
