Well 8N where made from 1948 to 1952. But there is the front mount distributor type made form 1948 to early 1950 and then the side mount distributor made form late 1950 April or May to 1952.

As for that lever probably a Howard aux transmission

I'm with Bob on this one. It doesn't matter where your distributor is or what model it is, this looks like and everett trencher and I'll give you $10.00 for it right now. LOL

thank you for the offer but I think I will keep it!!! Just trying to figure out what I got!!!

You do have the Everett trencher transmission. IF you notice your tractor has a longer wheel base. It is longer than standard.

IF you engage that the tractor will go really slow while the PTO still turns at the correct speed. The Others that are in front of the transmission change the speed of the PTO. Yours is the more desirable one if you want to go slow. You could run a tiller with yours.

If that transmission is in working order, and you want to keep it that way, do not pull with it. Even though it makes your tractor go really slow,it is NOT a granny gear. It is nothing but a speed reducer and will not take the strain of pulling. That said you are one of the lucky ones that can run a rototiller or snowblower with your N
