Implement trailer?

Looking for an implement trailer that doesn't kick trucks butt when empty like my 18+2 sure track 14k trailer does. I have a 10k drump trailer that weighs same as implement trailer. It doesn't kick.

Sure trac is putting a longer hitch on their trailers. Does anyone have one and does it help?

I can get buy with a 18 ft 10k. Don't want a deckover. Want something lower.

Does anyone have a 10k tilt trailer and does it kick when empty ?

Does anyone have a skidder trailer that doesn't kick?

Not to excited about a hitch with an air bag.

Are there any implement trailer that don't kick? I had a 16 ft landscape trailer 7k that didn't kick.

So what makes some kick and others don't.

Mt trailer doesn't kick when loaded.

I don't know what trailers but it kinda sounds like your truck might be a little light. I used to have an older Dodge 1/2 ton the only had 2 leaf springs on rear. A week after I bought it I had the 5th grade cheerleaders in it for a parade and it looked like I had at least 2 ton on it. The rear bumper was seriously not too far from the ground. A good truck but just too light of springs on it. Air bags made a world of difference. My F250 Fords naturally are a lot heavier with heavier springs so I can't much feel a trailer with a skid steer on behind or the 25' gooseneck loaded or empty. Now it does feel the weight engine wise loaded. Just my thoughts, Keith

I have a 20' 10k sure trac and my f150 max tow pulls it great mt or loaded. Randy your experience may be different.

It's the tilt feature that is the likely cause. My guess is that they moved the axles forward to get a more favorable angle on the tilt. It is that forward axle setup that causes the banging when empty. There is usually a trade off for features on trailers, you wanted a fairly short tilt with liw angle, so you got short wheel base and low hitch weight when empty. The solution is a trailer with wheels set at 60% back or more.

My PJ 20ft. 10,000k rides good mty. Its not a deck over. My 3/4 ton pu rides better with the trailer hooked on mty. The axles on the trailer are close to 3/4 of the way back which I think makes a difference.

There just one thing I need to ask. I know if you have the money you can find a nice low boy trailer which come in handy. I have a low boy trailer over here and it come in. when I need to haul that old cotton picker of mine to another flied. The low boy gives you that clearance you need for those high tractors and equipment. The only thing I hate about conventional trailer is when they are empty they like to bob up and down. I have two trailer over here. I have my first one I ever owned and it is torques axles. this one tows great loaded down and empty no wondering around as you tow down the road. The new one is a low boy with leaf's on it to tow the heavy stuff. tows great loaded down but empty well different story. Like to wonder around and jumps up an down going down the road. So you know what you are looking for on a trailer good luck in finding it.

are you referring to trailer slap ? might want to look into the (SHOCKER TRAILER HITCH) don't have one but it is advertised to reduce trailer slap

I have a 18+2 10,000 lb Mac Lander trailer that pulls like a dream. I?ve pulled it literally around the whole Midwest US, with loads from virtually empty to 8,000 lbs. It tracks dead on, no swaying at all, and can?t even tell it?s behind you. Just got back from a 1400 mile trip through MN, WI, and MI. Even on rough winter roads it pulled great.

I am in Northern WI. For $900 I have a heavy trailer to sell. Two 7K axles(maybe 8k?), new electric brakes, new replacement parts in the spring assemblies. Pulls very well down the road. Used it last year, but it is ugly. I might paint it. It has a drop center and the bed is expanded metal.
If I recall correctly, someone in Indiana had some 32" Ford hat rims that I had wanted. I just do not remember who that was.

It doesn't have to be trailer that is causing slap. There are several things that can cause it. One is the ball and coupler. If ball does not fit coupler correctly you will have slap.Second is the pin that holds shank into receiver should be tight not sloppy. Also tongue weight needs to be correct and there are charts that can help you with that.

George the reason your current trailer "slaps" the ball is that it is not heavy enough on the hitch when empty. Many short trailers have this issue. I have just added some weight to the tongue to stop the slap. Usually a few hundred pounds will cure the slap. I used an old combine rear weight. The weight was "T" shape so four of them set perfectly between two angle irons across the tongue frame.

Also tilt trailers are really bad about this if the entire bed tilts. They have to have the axles so far forward that the trailer is almost balanced.

I have a two Big Tex tilt bed skid steer trailers. They pull very well and do not "slap" the ball when empty. The key is they have a tilt section and a flat section in front of that. This allows them to use a shorter tilting section. This makes the trailer be better balanced when empty. The tilt is manual. The weight makes it go down. You can easily just walk up the trailer and your weight will make it lift up to flat.

I have a small trailer that doses the same thing. I add weight to the front of it when empty towing. Silly thing is too well balanced.

Is “kicking” trailer away due to not having enough weight on the hitch and the centre of the weight too far behind the hitch ?
A deckover is a huge advantage of not hangingup loads on the wheel wells .
Using the heaviest highest load rated tires on the truck and trailer that are fully inflated will reduce the sway/kick.
As previously stated , if the truck is not rated for the load, then it isn’t rated for the load . What are the specs of your truck? There is a sticker in the driver’s door frame that tells all . Sometimes a label on the radiator shroud too. Should be a list of option codes in the glove box that will indicate the trucks options .

It's not the truck, it's the trailer. 10
ft 10K dump trailer weighs the same as
20ft implement 14k. Dump trailer doesn't
kick truck full or empty, so not a tire
issue on truck either.

Implement trailer pulls fine with a
tractor on it. It's when its empty it
kicks.

If anything it the 90 psi trailer tires
bounce like basketballs when empty.

I put tool box and mounted spare tire on
trailer to increase tongue weight.
Doesn't help.

Can't be truck or truck tires. Truck can
easily pull dump trailer with 6000#
gravel in it. Total weight 9000+ #.

So what implement trailer doesn't kick?

First thing you learn driving semi is that 50% of your ride comes from trailer.. The more weight on the truck the better it will ride. That is why you see semi's with the trailer tandems slid back.

You need to explain what you mean by "kick" .Maybe you need to balance the tires to start with then go from there.

My imperial split tilt deck does not. Drove west of you to get it at the factory. Not cheap but will last a long time.

No, a balanced load is what makes a smooth ride. Loaded heavy on the tongue or 5th wheel makes them rough and jerks the tow vehicle. The tandems get slid to get the weight on the drives below 34K and ideally as close to equal as possible.

Sway and kick are not the same, in fact, they're opposites. When the weight on the drives is significantly higher than on the trailer wheels the load will jerk you back and forth. More weight on the trailer wheels than on the drives and it will sway. Your truck/trailer combination will ride the best with the same amount of weight on each axle.

The problem I have had with my tandem axle trailers, 3 implement and 2 campers is too much toung weight, I have to use load leveler hitch to transfer weight to front wheels, on implement have to keep load toward back, camper no optiom. Several homemade 2 wheel trailers perfevtly balanced with no problems with bouncing.
