Fuel lines?

New to the site here! I recently got a 65 ford 3000 gas tractor(for free),tracking down fuel issues and I I noticed a line that runs around to the fuel pump isn't connected..So I know I have fuel from the tank to the carb, new fuel shut off valve from tank new sediment bowl...but I guess my question is where does that line even connect to?? Looks like it once came from the shut off valve, but now that line goes to the sediment bowl...I will post a picture In a bit

The fuel line goes from the shut off valve to the fuel pump then from the fuel pump to the sediment bowl and from the sediment bowl to the carb.

The first pic shows the line as it sits up by the shut off....second pic is where it goes around to the FP

Sounds like somebody tried bypasing a non working fuel pomp. My 68 5000 it eas bypassed and an electric fuel pump was put in line. Sounds like somebody tried to run it without the fuel pump but did not have the electric pump to replace it. Carbs are a complicater item, not simple like some tractors as it has an exceleratot pump like a car has in the carb and that unit will freexe up and almost impossible to get out to put new one in. I had the 5000 plus 2 4000, 65 & 68. All same fuel pump setup.

Ford used a long, circuitous darned system
of fuel lines on those 3 cylinder gassers.
This is the one that goes from the fuel
pump on top of the timing cover to the
carb. Worked good but complicated.
If I had to start over and try to make one
up I would go to a bone yard and take them
off a junker. Or just install a little
electric fuel pump on it. Shutoff valve
under the tank > fuel pump > fuel filter >
carb > done.

is there a certain PSI I need to run and a return line?? Or can I just add in an inline pump wired to the ignition?

You can add a 3-5 psi pump if you want.
No return needed.
If you have a pump on order just take your time and bend up a couple lines.

well the OE style pump was 75$ from the local dealer and an electric pump is about 15 to 20,I may go ahead and buy the electric for now as well and wait til I have the time to make lines

A general rule of thumb is 4-7 psi. A little less is ok, a little more will probably prevent the needle from seating.
