Noticed today that when I run my truck in 4wd(Manual shift 2wd-4wd) the rear tires cake up with snow while the front tires look normal. Have about 1/2" of snow caked all around the tread on the rear tires when in 4wd. Any ideas why this would happen? The tires are original Bridgstone with about 49,000 miles.

Just a guess, but I'd say that is likely due to the front wheels turning, which will flex the tread side-to-side. Rear wheels simply follow.....unless you're going sideways on ice. *lol*

Is the tread depth the same on both axles? My guess is that the front tires are packing the loose snow as they roll and the rear tires move over that same packed snow and pick it up. Try backing the pickup in a straight line through fresh snow to see if the rear tires clean out and the frotn tires pack up.

This is my guess as well.
