FORD PTO SPEED COMPARED TO THE FORD PULLEY

On my old 1942 Ford tractor---The PTO at a governed speed is 540 RPM--Is that correct?? Now when I install that Ford pulley that uses 4 bolts to bolt to the tractor and slides onto the PTO shaft-----Is that pulley running at 540 RPM or is it FASTER????

Not hard to figure out, just turn and count. Belt speeds to operate equipment were usually measured in belt feet per minute. I think the standard operating speed was 3100 feet per minute.

That is very easy to figure out. Mark the PTO part as in the start point then slowly turn the pulley and watch how many turns the PTO part turns and compare that to the number of turns the pulley turns and do the math

Actually, 540 PTO RPM is achieved at about 1,800 engine RPM, unless the tractor is equipped with a Sherman combination which is in UD. In this case 540 PTO RPM is achieved at about 2,100 RPM.

The PTO pulled gearbox is not 1:1 but cannot tell you the ratio from memory.
