Another pipeline

Saw on the National news where 60 people were thought killed near a gasoline pipeline in Mexico. Seems the price of gas(petro) is very high??? and the people cannot afford it. So they routinely punch holes in the line to steal gas. The one film clip they showed, it was a geyser of gas spewing up. People were out there catching it in open topped pitchers. I don't know if someone took a smoke break or some static electricity ignited it but it was a huge fireball. Guess that free gas must have been worth their lives. gobble

Not the first time. Fools have done it in the middle eastern countrys too. They have no idea how much 900 psi means. This line may have been at a lower pressure but look how high the gusher is. Not a garden hose folks.

Around here they drill holes in anhydrous tanks to steal the ammonia to make meth. Couple years ago they stole a full tank out of the field and buried it in the woods, running gear and all with just the valve and hose sticking up, so they could use it a bit at a time.

I read about it in the local paper last week whats staggering is the times pipe lines in mexico have been tapped into and the deaths... Its something like 12000 illegal taps and several thousand deaths...

We had a construction supervisor from an Arkansas poultry company, couldn't wait to see what the pipe line he had uncovered was, so he jumped into the trench, took a big abrasive-blade Stihl cutoff saw, fired that baby up, and sawed a bid ol notch right in the side. Gonna see what's in there, by golly! High pressure gas line feeding the industrial park. Pressure was so great it blew all the sparks and debris out, did not ignite, almost asphysphiated him. Shut down the industrial park. I imagine he's killed himself by now....

Can you imagine how polluted the ground and water is around one of those illegal "taps"?? They aren't even catching 25% of that gas I'll bet. Not only that, I hate the smell of gas, can you imagine being drenched in it head to toe while trying to collect it? I would think you should try to limit the amount of gas absorbed into your skin, and taking a shower in it sure ain't gonna help you live longer.

I've been working in Mexico. The cartels and other criminals install the taps and sell the stolen gas to motorists for instant profit. Pull your vehicle up to the tap and they fill it up just like a gas station. There is a severe gas shortage now due to their president shutting down the gas pipelines that carry the gas to several regions of the country to fix all the illegal taps. He should have just marched the military up and down the pipelines and shot the criminals on site. Lines at gas stations are crazy while people wait for the next tanker to show up so they can get 500 pesos ($25) worth of gas at a time. Before the shortage gas prices were roughly the same as in the states.
