Help with regulator G john deere

I took old regulator off to replace with new one. Old one has 4 poles marked Bat, Fld, Arm, L. New one only has poles marked Bat, Fld, Gen. Parts dept said that is the new number it subs to from the old. So where do I hook the wire up that went to the "L" pole on the old regulator.

If they are substituting the part numbers in the drawing and you serial number is in that range then the L wire will also connect to the B post.

"where do I hook the wire up that went to the "L" pole"

It's the power source for the light switch. Lacking a "L" terminal on the regulator connect the wire that used to go there to the "BATT" terminal on the regulator.

The short version of the purpose of the "L" terminal was for better battery charging when the lights are used continuously for a lot of hours.

Unless you are farming at nite, there's no issue.

I bought a new regulator that had the four terminals and the L terminal was connected underneath to the B terminal by a metal bus bar. Therefore, the L terminal was just a convenience terminal.

Rodney and Pappy, his tractor originally had a CUTOUT, rather than a voltage regulator, and what you guys are suggesting does not apply, and will "let the smoke out".
