OT: Tonight's Moon

I wish the pictures was as pretty as the Southern Indiana moon is tonight.

It sure is bright in my part of the state
too. With all the snow it looks like
daylight out.

(quoted from post at 16:59:44 01/20/19) It sure is bright in my part of the state

Don't think we're too far apart. Bedford area here.

Its bright enough I can see my 2 white guard dogs patrolling follow by a sheep that thinks he's a dog to.

It?s minus 1 and clear out tonight, which is good for moon viewing but not good for being out to view it....

Looks like activity starts a little after 8:00pm here in central time zone.

(quoted from post at 17:09:42 01/20/19) I am north of Seymour. How much snow did
you have over there?

We received 8" inches according to Indianapolis, but it's hard to tell w/ all the blowing and drifting. I passed through a 5' drift on one of our county roads this morning. We had rain and ice leading up to the snow, so you have to contend w/ a sheet of ice once you have the snow removed. Lovely, lovely weather, indeed. But the cold helps...riiiiiight!! :D :D :D

Starts at around 10pm here in eastern time zone. Three hours start to finish.
The alignment is almost dead center perfect. Only problem is the wind and 6?
temperatures. Took this shot at moon rise. This is with my new Samsung J7.

(quoted from post at 17:28:52 01/20/19) You have a few high clouds to scatter the light. Its
clear and cold near Peoria,IL down to about 8
degrees.

Not quite there, yet! It's 15 degrees here now. Cute, little, Channel 13 weather lady says we're headed for 4 tonight, though!

PS: That's a really nice pic!!

Waiting for the moon to climb here in Iowa at 6:30pm.
The moon is so bright bright right now that we're watching deer on the snowy hillside in the field 1/4 mile away.

When I was a civil engineer at Purdue she was in our same building. Meteorological science I believe. She attracted attention back then too

At 8:10 in the Pacific time zone, its about half covered. First night without clouds in a week or 2.

A picture of my backyard, and one of the
chimney just after loading the woodstove
for the night. At -5? already with a
stout north wind, it's fairly cool out.

Well I was out there at 11:30 with my
professional camera, tripod, and release
cable. The temp was 16?f and a real wind
blowing. After ten minutes just could take
it anymore. Got several very VERY nice
shots. Now for the problems. My old lap top
will not hook to the internet anymore. The
only thing I could do is grab a screen shot
for now. One is from the viewer of the
camera and the better one is from the
laptop. If I could down load the darn image
there are about a dozen stars and the moon
is crystal. I hate technology sometimes.
Just good as I can do for now. Drat!

The bottom one is with my Canon 7D with a 400mm lenses. It is beauty, I just can't directly down load it. Darn!

Jeff, my email is open in Modern View. Shoot me a message. I'm betting there's a fairly simple fix for your laptop problem.

Looks pretty cool, I've been out 3 or 4 times in the last couple of hours to look at it, don't remember ever seeing that before quite like that.

min tenn.; got halfway thru the eclipse & clouds rolled in. Like someone said 'show me a sky event & I'll tell you when it will be cloudy.'.

No not a computer problem. Can't transfer stuff because the only thing on line
is the Samsung phone. Then you can't assigne a file. I'm going to see a guy I
know who is pretty sharp. Does repair. No worry.
