The Bee thread brought back some fond memories.
My wife's granddad who I knew from the time I was a little kid, kept a few hives of bees on his farm.
He had all the bee equipment including a cute little slide-top wooden box in which to put the queen.
Every once in a while back in the 40s and 50s someone would find a swarm of bees in a tree or on the side of a barn.
Harry was always the one called to capture them.
I also remember him cutting a couple of bee trees out in the woods and harvesting the honey....some dark "old" honey and some light "new" honey.
Did you know you can smell a bee tree from a long way off in the woods?
And......he really would watch the bees as they made a "beeline" back to the tree.
Those were the good ol' days!
