OT: 1960 IH Travelall

I'm sure there are not many of these left. As I understand it, an IH rusted quicker than a Chevy!! Would be an interesting project for someone.

Is there a source for IH truck parts? Would you keep the Silver Diamond Inline 6-cylinder or drop something else under the hood? Diesel maybe? Wish I had the money to customize it. Sure would be something to pull up in this, hauling a classic tractor behind it @ the next tractor show.

Parts are not hard to come by , lots of old IH trucks junked. The window glass will fit out of many years. Several around at the ih meets. Having an automatic transmission behind the 6 cyl engine is kind of rare.

Friend of mine had the IH equivalent of a Blazer and it appeared to me that they just subbed truck parts into the drivetrain of that sucker. Could not believe what was under the bonnet. Based upon that I'd say most drive train parts would be readily available along with brakes and steering system, maybe suspension and all....just lacking sheet metal if anything.

WAY WAY better looking than anything built in the last 25 years. Wish we could find vehicals now that were that good looking. New stuff is so ugly I don't understand how they sell any of it.

I still have the third row seat from one in the barn. Many years ago my aunt had one, what a barge but it could haul a crowd.

I would like to have a Traveall. I own 3 1974 D-200 PU'S.
2 have had complete off frame restorations. The 3rd one I am going to OH the 345 engine and use it to haul firewood. You can find all the sheet metal parts for these or the good thing about these they are made with STEEL so you have something to weld to if you have to fab a certain part. You can still get all the parts for the engines as well. All 4 of mine are 4 WD 2 have 4-speeds and the other one is an automatic.
Biggest mistake I ever made was getting rid of the 1972 Scout Traveler that I bought new. You can still find parts for Scouts as well.
It is too bad IH could not put a good body because their drive trains were outstanding.
