i have a 2012 f250 6.7 68000 miles the other day check engine light came on had it checked don't have the code number right now but any way it was the heating element and sending level of the def fluid tank that was bad.. so looking to see how much it cost to have it fixed.. but i remember getting a letter from ford believe it was in july that ford had extended the warranty on the def heating element and sending level unit out to 11 years or 120,000 miles though well into the dealer i go and sure enough element in tank was bad and they put in shop pick it up next morning and no charge.... believe total cost was like 470.00 had i had to pay for it

I drove my 2014 for well over a year with the light
on. The dealer scanned the computer at least three
times but couldn't tell what was throwing the codes
and I wouldn't let them just start changing parts.
When I got the recall on that redunctant heater I
asked the service manager if he thought it would fix
my issues. He didn't think so but it's been three
months and several thousand miles without the
service engine light on. I have almost 130k miles on
this one. Tony

Friend has had several Ford 6.7 trucks. He has had the turbo fail on two of them between 105-110 K. Ford paid for one and he had to pay for the other. Cost him like $7500. So he now buys an extended factory warranty to 125K and tries to trade them before they go out of warranty.

That's what you get with this new junk! I have a
2000 7.3 220,000 on it, oil, filters, batterys ,
altanator and water pump, all it's ever needed! I
think it's one of the best trucks Iv owened.

The AC compressor is leaking and the evaporator is stopped up. The dash has to come out to get the evap out. I've also replaced the brakes twice. This is F 350 chassis cab that pulls trailers several times a week including a 32' dovetail hauling a Cat D 4 G. It spends way more time on gravel roads and off road than on pavement. All the dust and mud are the reason brake and evap problems. There haven't been any other problems. Overall I am satisfied with this truck. Tony

Just had the same exact thing on my 2014.
Unfortunately, I was at the cutoff serial
number for the recall and only 450 and 550s
were covered for that model year. He told
me to keep my receipt because if Ford
revises the coverage again they'll
reimburse me as long as I have the receipt.
It was around $900. If it happens to
another one of our trucks I'm going to fix
it myself. Looked it up and it's not a
terrible job.

Only other trouble in 70,000 miles is it
let me sitting a few times. Wouldn't start,
wouldnt even crank. I finally figured out
that when I popped the parking brake, it
jostled a wiring harness that was attached
to the parking brake mechanism. Computer
freaked out and wouldnt enter start
sequence. I cut the wire tie there and it's
been fine ever since.

GM did the same thing. They ran it out to 10 years or 120K. It's been a long time since I had a ford out, but I know the pumps they use are identical. I wouldn't be surprised if the tank heater is too.
