wisconsin vg4d

putting my wisconsin back together, it is having trouble starting. I checked spark it's good, then compression was 80 - 90 on the left side then the right side only has 60. Not sure if that would be the problem or not. It will run for about a second or two when I crank it over and I play with the choke but it won't stay running. I'm also assuming my timing is good or else it wouldn't even try to start. I'm at a loss.

Good evening Benjamin
To me 20 to 30 lbs different between the cylinders is too much . I would check
the valves , if ok I would the ring gap clearance . Don t think you could
expect it to run very good .

Make sure u have the valve lash set correctly. If u have the
valves ground and not adjusted with tight valves u don?t have
proper compression to run.

well I cleaned my carb to make sure I was getting fuel and if I leave the pump run I can flood the thing so I know it's not fuel. So like the others have said it must be compression. Now my question is do I buy .010 over or .020 pistons to put in. To make the cylinders bigger do I get abrasive honing stones and go to town or does it get bored out(how do I do that), how much bigger do the cylinders need to be then the pistons? Do I have to do both sides?
Sorry for all the questions.

Yes check valve lash. If it has been sitting for a long time, the rings on the low side may be stuck. Put some atf or marvel mystery oil in those cylinders and let set for a few days and then do a compression check. Boring a block in a job for professionals who do it often and have the right equipment. Using a hone to try to bore even .010 oversize will very likely result in an egg shaped and tapered bore. The higher compression is even bordering on poor.

I forgot about the old atf trick I put some in the cylinders last night and checked the compression this morn and my low side is up to 170 and my high side is up to 150 and 160 so compression was definitely my problem. Had no idea they were that far off.
