OT '57-'58 GMC front axle part

Does anyone know what the part pictured is or does? It's on a half-ton pickup, and has no hoses or wires or levers or rods connected to it. One on the left, one on the right.

Yes too blurry.
But I doubt it's factory?
Don't remember anything close to that on king pin Axle.

Better picture please.
Tom

Could be the solenoid for the indexed oscillator. Kicks in at 35 mph, full power at 60 mph or whenever you turn on the radio.

Sorry, no idea.

Not sure of anything with a blurry picture like that. Next thought would be maybe a stop for the wheel so it doesn't get past center for the tie rod. Or a shock bracket.

NO idea what's in your photo, but there used to be all sorts of aftermarket $tuff on the market to snub wheel "shimmy"/death wobble, etc., wonder if you are looking at something like that?

The owner cleaned it up, and you're right on the money. Thank you all for your replies. I passed them to my nephew. Here's a photo:

I googled Delco Road Shock Damper but got no hits. Too bad. If you could still get them it might provide a way for a half ton truck to hold the front end of a loaded 14,000 trailer up. This would allow the YTDOT inspectors to be able to give an endorsement on how to be able to drive by a DOT check.
