This has been a long process in my spare time,
The first pic is the final result to give you an idea what size area I cleared.

Clearing the brush was only half the work. I had to level dirt to be able to get to more brush.

Fast forward, putting the final touches on using an ATV disk.

Then I leveled with a pallet. I've tried bed springs and chainlink, but pallet works best when you have all the trash, small sticks, to deal with.

You've inspired me, George. You may recall that I have an Allman, the "other" small backhoe/loader. Son has been using it at his new place, but I'll get it back before spring. Have a much smaller patch than yours that needs clean-up.

You manage to do more with less than any human I have ever seen. Your a testament to hard work and Termites LOL .... Sure looks good, if I get time I will send you a photo of a tool that works perfect on that project. Land Pride, Woods and several others make a tool called a pulverizer , row of teeth mounted on a bar than a small roller with spikes. Leaves it ready to sow.

Is that little loader made out of a garden tractor too? What engine is in it and how much weight can it lift?

20 hp honda on this one. OEM 20 hp kohler command. I only run engine a little over half rpms.
New ones 25 hp kohler command.
Lifting force 1800#
breaking force 8000#

I've seen them. A little over my budget.
Keep in mind, this is my tractor therapy. Gives me something to do when I run out of other projects.
Been working on the gravel pit 10 years now. This is about what I get done each winter. I'm a little ahead this year because ground isn't frozen.

George, looks real good but I hope you didn't pay yourself by the hour for that job, it will put you in another tax bracket.

I'm thinking of planting annual rye cover and white clover. One flower bed of Siberian Irises white clover filled in between flowers. Nice combination of colors. Clover keeps weeds down and it doesn't seem to bother flowers. I Only mow it at end of year when flowers have frosted off.

We think of the gravel pit as our lower yard, about 30 ft below grade.

Clearing brush makes the Cedar trees happy. They grow fast.

An old truck tire is good for smoothing ground behind a small tractor.Put an eye bolt into it,hook a chain on and drive around fast. You need to put the eyebolt in the tread, but right on the edge of the sidewall.I put one in the middle of the tread, and it kept tripping over itself when I towed it.
