Quotable quote

My Dad always used the we're burning daylight line. I questioned him once about using a John Wayne movie line all the time. He replied Git to work....

To my dad it ment no freeloading around here. Couple of cousins found that out. They thought they would spend the summer with us. Lay around and take it easy. One night with no supper changed their minds.

I think this was a John Wayne quote...

Cowboy: "Whay's your horses name?"

John: "Ain't got no name."

Cowboy: "Why's that?"

John: "Never name nothing you might have to eat!"

Grandpa use to say "More time wasted waiting for rain than there is on account of rain". In other words if you sat around waiting for rain instead of baling hay, and then it never rained.

Dad said about the loafers at the country store "Just hope some day you are as smart as they think they are".

There was an old guy that never did a whole lot of anything but always seemed to have money his famous saying was "Any fool can make a living by working but it takes a smart person to make a living and not work".

I'd like to buy him for what he's worth, then sell him for what he thinks he's worth. Nuther one that applies to our society.

911 calls the the people that draw the chalk lines. 1911 tells them were to draw the chalk line. That came from a great uncle of mine that passed away a few years ago. He could hit things with a Colt 1911 that I couldn't hit with a shotgun! Maybe it had something to do with him being a small arms instructor in the Army for close to 20 years.

Funny one. When someone says " I thought ....." and they screwed up.

"You know what happened to Thought?

Thought thought he farted. "

And when he would say "It's one thing to be dumb, it's not necessary to open your mouth and let the world know it.
