I'm getting to the point where the old flip phone is not holding up and I'm using a lot of minutes with people calling me all the time (For no good reason usually) and burning up my Tracfone minutes. I'm considering going to Straight talk or something and a (ack!) smart phone. I have access to lots of used and new smart phones people are giving me. My problem is I'm used to having the little flip phone in my front left pocket all my waking hours. Smart phones are too big for this and I don't always have a short pocket. No, bibs are out of the question for those wondering. Does anyone have any recommendations on a holster/armored holster for a average sized smart phone? I need something it won't fall out of or get mashed against a seat or tree, etc.

Great question. I have tried a holder on my belt but after loosing the phone a couple times I abandoned that. I went back to my right pant pocket or shirt pocket like you.

My new smartphone is larger than most others and too big for a pocket. I found a leather holster on Ama?.. by AGOZ for $10 that clips or threads on a belt and hold the phone horizontally. Most hang vertical and interfere with tractor seats (important) and this one is easy to open.

I use an AR15 magazine holder for my phone. I have my phone in a Lifeproof protective case so it is larger than a stock phone and it fits in this holder very well. The mag holder I use is made by High Speed Gear and is made in the USA. This mag holder is adjustable for tension using small bungie cords. It would require a secondary protective case to get the phone to the correct size which I would recommend anyway. I have been using one of these for several years and the phone absolutely will not fall out of the holder. The fashion police might not care for the colors: Basic SWAT Black: Digi-cam camo; Desert Sand and OD Green.

I use a "Nite size" nylon phone holster that I got from Tractor Supply. Clips securely to my pants pocket doesn't interfere with normal activities.

I've used this style for the 8 years. Won't slip off of belt, never had one lose a phone, and are not in the way when driving or working. Get them off of ebay. Available to match many phone models

I could never get cell phone to stay in shirt pocket, everytime I bend over it fall out. I have smart phone and have used Nyt Eze(sp?) as mentioned by another poster. Very rugged and different sizes available. Mine clips on belt firmly enough I won't fall off

I've been carrying mine in my front pants pocket for two years. I have to clean lint out of the charging port twice a year.

IF you really want to continue to carry in your shirt pocket, look for an older iPhone version, like the 5, they are still small enough to do so.

I use a Kyocera Brigadier armored phone, small enough for any pocket, I wear used work cargo pants which have a perfect spot on the thigh for my phone. I did buy a two pack eBay holster, clips to my belt, but I am so fat and deaf that I can neither feel nor hear the phone when on my hip unless in a very quiet situation. The clip holster worked well on my hoodie collar in a cab tractor with the radio on, I was able to hear it fine.

Because the armored phone has a smaller size, the screen is not ideal for use as a browser, which I don't often need anyway. But I have started reading more books online again, and the kids got me a cheap tablet for that use, etc.

Yes, that makes an extra thing, but it is not a phone, only a wifi device, so no ongoing expense. While I rarely use my phone for browsing, out can be really handy on rare occasions, and invaluable in a few.

my smart phone has always lived in my right front jean pocket. billfold is in the left. just be sure whatever pants you buy have decent sized pockets. I
have more problems finding jeans with long enuff zippers!

Not a fraught of OtterBox I would break 3 are 4 OtterBox cases a year I know they were glad I changed brands of phones and my original OtterBox would not fit the new phone...

OtterBox lifetime warranty I broke so many they world send me a new one no prof needed...

All my pants have cargo pockets that's were I tote my phone now...

My S-7 is in an Otter Box without the clip, and I carry it in my right rear pocket. It is mostly because of work, but a belt clip will last me about an hour before break it.

I had an Iphone 5s I kept in a life proof case. I carried it in a Nite Ize case that you can clip to your pants or on your belt, it will definitely stay where you put it. I also carried it in my right breast shirt pocket depending on what I was doing. Got a new IPhone 8plus, still in a life proof case. It fits in my shirt pocket just as well. I'm talking about uniform type shirts, tee shirt pockets are really to shallow for the 8plus. Also have the Nite Ize case for it. Got those at Tractor Supply. They are good tough cases/holsters.

Thanks guys. I went through the phones I have on hand and found 1 that might work in my pocket. The nicest one is brand new and much larger. I'm going to look at holsters. Honestly, I'd like to get a mil-grade flip phone as I don't want a smart phone, but the ones I find cost as much as 2 or 3 months of a service plan. I like Tracfone, but most people just can't wrap their minds around "burning up my minutes" with stupid calls/texts anymore.
