Just feel crappy

I had a nasty sinus cold the week after Thanksgiving, not quite an infection, but it still took a full 4 weeks to totally get over it, glad it's gone now.

Hope you feel better soon.

I don't get colds or flu,(no flu, cold for 20 years) but I have and my wife taken some herbals that have obviously made sure I don't (she does not get sick anymore), everyone laughs when we try to explain, so we just snicker when there ill and plump full of cold and flu, and crying for "Z" packs!

Same here. Started coming down with it last Wednesday. Hopefully be back up and running soon. Wife is about ready to kick me out, been grumpy with this one.

I am into a cold 10 days I am feeling good now except when I lay down I have a damm hack/cough... Every night I wake up with it and battle it for a hour are so  Mom had it and about over it so I started on the Mister Humidifier in my room last night... I get thru it on ibuproffem/acetaminophen/mucinex and a good shot of George Dickle old #8 for the hack (but only GD at night in the bed)....

Wife has been cranky-sick for a couple weeks. I thought I was getting it but lucked out. All I got going on now is ankle pain, and lots of it. Got a cold front coming in. Never has done it before this year, so guess my body decided it's time for me to [b:0f12f757e6]"[i:0f12f757e6]experience[/i:0f12f757e6]"[/b:0f12f757e6] weather changes.

Just getting over the flu & Pneumonia, pretty darn weak right now. Spent 5 days in the hospital. Haven?t had the flu in 40 yrs, never had Pneumonia before. Got a senior flu shot in September, had a pneumonia shot couple years ago. Think they?ll refund my money for the shots?

Strictly for medicinal purposes, right? Seriously I take a shot ( or 2) of ginger brandy before bed if I start to feel sick and I'm sure it helps. Definitely helps you sleep better when your sick which aids recovery. This was my grandfathers remedy and he lived till 101 years old.

Just a couple thoughts from reading the responses...I'm sorry to hear you are ill by the way. But thoughts...

Colds last about 10 days. If yours runs longer you should or should have:

Flu shot
Check your humidifier
Put the cats outside and get checked for allergies
Get on antibiotics if you have bronchitis or pneumonia
Check your house for mold

No one should be sick until Spring. It would suck to find out down the road that a simple action could have saved you months of misery. I get a flu shot every year and usually only get a minor cold once a winter. :)

JK-NY Yesir I use to drink for fun but the older I get the less fun it is . One pint will knock the nastiest crud outta me in a big hurry

Had a cold three weeks ago but it didn’t last long. I feel great now. Marilyn hardly ever gets sick. Wish I had her stamina. We both had the shot. Don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not.

I had to be alongside a coworker who had the flu last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. He was extremely pale, had a fever, no strength whatsoever and he had diarrhea. He wouldn't go home and the boss (who did NOT have to work beside him) didn't make him go home.
I had the flu nnalert shot a few months ago, so hopefully it will help keep me healthy. So far, so good.

No colds here, I work outside, as an old boss friend told me 20 years ago working construction outside
You'll never get sick out in the cold, don't know if that's true, but when I pump gas I wear gloves, I also carry hand sanitizer in my car. We just got 2 horses off the track for some rest. My brother, my daughter and I just watched one run at Aqueduct on New Year's Eve, last race of the year, today I had to walk him, he was foaled here, so pretty neat to see him on TV in a race then get to walk him, no flu shot for me, Iv never had one, so I hope to stay healthy to keep working with the horses.
Ps, seems like most people I know that get a flu shot end up with the flu???

Good advice, my quote is, you have to make your body a place were germs don't want to live!! Lol

Last year this time I thought I wouldn't make it, flu.

This is the first year for a flu shot. I wash hands often and use hand sanitizer.

I avoid large crowds. Heard on news that you could get sick sitting 12 ft away from a sick person on an airplane, they don't have to cough. If they caught their germs could travel over 25 ft.

News also tested the table on airplane and said it has 25 times the germs found on a toilet seat. Scary?

I feel good.

My wife makes a mustard plaster for cold and chest congestion. After a couple of days I usually feel better. If not slice an onion and put it in a bowl by your bed. That will help with flu if you have it.

I have been prone to sinus infections for fifty years, and as I have gotten older they have gotten worse, and harder to kick. I am on antibiotic right now, and I am irrigating with saline four times a day instead of the usual twice, along with misting with my prescribed antihistamine. I came down with it a week ago after a month of heavy congestion, and now instead of getting worse as in the past, I am noticeably better. The difference is a lot of sinus irrigation and the antihistamine nasal mist.

Showcrop, I had sinus issues from young on and then about early forties it got worse. I finally went to an ENT doctor. A CT Scan showed the Ethmoid Sinus, along with inflammation and secretions, would create pockets that could not drain. Ethmoid Sinus surgery opened it up so it could drain. Man, what a difference it made. I use Fluticasone as needed to help with inflammation but I rarely use it now.

Just something for thought. Everyone is different.

Thanks Paul, I have had my sinuses scanned twice. I can use Flonase only very sparingly or I get bleeding. I think that I am doing a lot better now, but I am still irritated with what I see is poor communication from the doctors, which has resulted in a very long haul to get here.

I feel for you. That sure is aggravating. I used to get sinus
infections regularly. Usually started with an eye irritation. Ive
found that using eyelid wipes seems to prevent infection from
getting started. Hope you feel better

JayinNY- In regard to your last comment above: The flu virus mutates so fast that it's a guessing game when making up the nnalert. Because of the necessary lead time, they have to guess which strain will show up the following winter. They try to hedge by including two or three strains in one shot, but their record for correctly predicting the actual strain that shows up is not good. Some years back I saw an article about the flu that went around about 10 or 15 years ago, I think it was H1N1. Some hospital, it may have been in Canada, noticed that everyone who came into the ER with the flu had been nnalert, and no one showed up who had not been nnalert. This led to the CDC and the Agriculture Dept. doing a study in pigs. The control group was unvaccinated, the other group was nnalert for flu virus X. Then both groups were exposed to flu virus Y. They said that the nnalert pigs showed more severe symptoms than the unvaccinated group. That seems to indicate that the nnalert programs the immune system to look for virus X. If virus Y shows up instead, it takes longer for the immune system to recognize it as a threat, which gives the virus a head start.

The bottom line is that a strong immune system is the single most important thing.

LSaunders, here in the Northeast last winter the flu was worse than most years. We heard on the news night after night week after week that even though the flu nnalert was not well targeted to be as effective against the strain that we got last year as it could have been, that there were still far more unvaccinated people that got it than those who were nnalert. I, like everyone else try to keep my immune system up and I still got my shot as usual, because the shot is still proven to be very important. Much more relevant than something that some body said happened at some time in some hospital in some country, that seemed to indicate something, LMAO!
