We are in the process of splitting tractor to get top shaft out . When we took rockshaft housing off I saw what looking like the left side of the trans case where the differential is at was chewed up all around the left bearing quill someone or somebody before my family purchase this tractor in the 1980s had a accident with it cause it?s looks like someone took a chipping hammer too it. It?s only on left hand side. On top area they took a grinder and tried to grind it flat but it just looks awfully chewed up idk what happend but tractor drove fine since the last time some one opened it up back 8 years ago and they didn?t say anything about them noticing that problem. Or seeing anything. If that bearing was going bad or on the verge what would be the signs , and plus what is this bolt that everyone talks about coming loose?
