Hey guys....My Case 1030 (about a 1968 model) has a problem; well, the loader does. I installed a GB 800 loader few years back and worked fine....but now the bucket when I role it back and the levers are in neutral it seeps forward- or roles back down on me -fast! Wont hold in position; is this in my remote control valve or in cylinders? Thanks .

50/50 could be either but most time it will be packing on one of the bucket cylinders going bad or the nut that holds the piston on the rod has stripped from the rod. Bad thing is Great Bend is out of business so take you cylinder to a good hydraulic shop. The way you determine which cylinder is remove the pin from and operate the bucket, you can pull the bad rod out or it will have very little resistance pushing in. Or if you have a in-red heat gun check and see if one is hotter than the other after operating it back and forth a few times.

If the hose change idea does not change the situation, the bucket cylinder may have blown packing on its piston. Jim

If you put the bucket on the ground, when it rolls, does it appear to apply downward force, or does it settle to the ground and stop?

If it applies downward pressure, it could be the valve not centering, as in a broken spring not returning the valve to center.

If it settles and rests on the ground, probably a blown piston seal in one of the cylinders. To determine which cylinder, roll the bucket back and block it. Disconnect the extend lines and cap the lines. Start the engine and apply more roll pressure, watch for oil to flow from the cylinder that is leaking. Or just go ahead and seal both cylinders.
